I don’t want to repeat what’s been said many times before, but the internet has changed everything.
One interesting new phenomena is experiences conferences quasi-live via twitter.
I read a blog a couple days ago by Will Mancini titled
Why You Should Attend Conferences Using Twitter. He suggests that following a conference via Twitter is a more desirable experience than simply watching a conference DVD even though there’s less content. Having followed a couple of conferences on Twitter, I know what he means.
I found the article while reading Tweets from Elevation Church’s Impart Conference a couple of days ago. Even though I’m 1,400 miles away from the conference, I felt connected to it via twitter. I didn’t choose to interact with any of the Tweets, but simply reading their Tweets enables you to share the emotions of the person in the audience. With a DVD you get the content without the energy or community.
